Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-09-24

Game of Hamlets is a small, free browser game. These terms say what you can expect of it and what it expects of you, in as few words as the subject allows.

What this is

Game of Hamlets is a free browser game about building and keeping a village. Nothing in it is bought or sold for real money: there is no shop, no subscription and no currency you can pay for.

The game is player-versus-environment. Other villages are visible on the map and you can trade with them, but nobody can attack you and you cannot attack anyone.

Your account

An account is one email address and a password you choose. Keep that password to yourself: anything done with it is treated as done by you.

There is no password reset. The game sends no email of any kind, so there is no message we could send you and no way to prove an address is yours. A forgotten password means a lost village. Please use a password manager.

Fair play

Your village lives on our server, and the server decides what is true. The game in your browser only asks; every order is checked and applied on the server, and a refused order simply does not happen.

Do not send forged or automated requests and do not try to work around those checks. An account that does may be closed.

What other players can see

Your village name is public. It appears on the world map and on every market offer you post. Your email address is never shown to another player.

So choose a name you are happy for strangers to read. You can change it in the village screen whenever you like.

The game will change

This game is in development. Buildings, prices, rates and rules will be adjusted, sometimes sharply, and a change can make yesterday's good strategy worthless today.

If a serious fault or a change in the rules makes it unavoidable, saved villages may have to be reset. We will avoid that where we can and say so where we cannot.

No promises

The game is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available, that it will be free of faults, or that your village will survive a hardware failure, a mistake of ours or an attack on the server.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes of playing it. Where the law does not allow that, our liability is limited to what the law requires.

Ending it

You can delete your account whenever you like, in Settings, under Account. It happens at once and cannot be undone: the village, its buildings, its stores, its people and its open trades all go with it.

We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we may stop running the game altogether. If we shut it down we will give what notice we reasonably can.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and a change that matters will be announced in the game.

Questions about them can go to the address at the foot of this page.

No contact address has been published yet. One will appear here before the game opens to the public.
